HP ML350p G8

Hey,

I want to install a Graphic card in slot 3, but only not external powered cards are detected (Nvidia K2200, Older Quadros).

All other external powered cards (Nvidia 750,760,1080ti,quadro 3800 4000 etc..)

Not shown up in bios or operating system.

They all run in slot 6!

When I measure the voltage: connect to external connector on card. Start 12v then after 2 sec:  6-8 volt.

2x 1200W Power sub.

Last firmware.

Thank you for every help.

GvK

That's an old server. HP split into two with HP enterprise being the company that deals with HP servers. You will find answers on their support forums and resources.  Try:

the ML 350 line of servers covers quite a few Generation models all slightly different hardware wise, so make sure to ID which Gen your 350 is before ordering parts or asking for help

some of the ML-350 models required a optional power cable kit to allow all slots to have AUX GPU power cables

your gen 8 model uses this cable:

https://www.moddiy.com/products/HP-Server-ML350P-Gen8-10-Pin-to-8-Pin-and-6-Pin-GPU-PCIE-Power-Cable...

also this was dependant on what power supply option you may have installed in your server

not all slots were approved by HP for video card use, so keep this in mind and read the user guide/service guide for your specific gen ml350 to see which slots were approved for video card use

Thank you for your help,

the cable is wrong for my 350, i got 2 x 8 pin pcie power connectors with 4 lines 12v and 4 lines ground. Not 10 pin.

I have 2 x 1200w power sup. all cards are running in slot 6 (Pcie cpu 2). Same cable, same power connections on board.

But not in slot 1 or 3 (dedicated graph. slot).

I also swapped the power supplies.

The voltage is reduced after first initializing (first screen), so cards are closing down and don't show up again.

Could it be a power saving process ?

Cheers george
