If you're attempting to install OpenBSD 7.7 on a modern HP EliteDesk 800 G6

desktop, you may encounter the installer hanging at "entry point at 0x1001000". This summary lists all the troubleshooting steps taken to date.

SYSTEM OVERVIEW:
- Target computer: HP EliteDesk 800 G6 SFF (2020 desktop)
- OpenBSD version: 7.7
- Installation medium: USB stick created via dd on a separate OpenBSD machine
- USB device on build machine: /dev/sd2 (raw device /dev/rsd2c)

USB CREATION ATTEMPTS:
1. miniroot77.img written using:
   doas dd if=miniroot77.img of=/dev/rsd2c bs=1m
   sync
2. install77.img written using the same command (full installer with sets)
3. Verified sync completed successfully after each write

BIOS / FIRMWARE ADJUSTMENTS:
- Secure Boot: Disabled
- Fast Boot: Disabled
- Boot mode: UEFI only, Legacy / CSM support disabled
- USB stick confirmed in boot menu as UEFI: <USB name>
- BIOS firmware recently updated to latest HP version

OBSERVED BOOT BEHAVIOR:
- Both miniroot77.img and install77.img hang immediately at "entry point at 0x1001000"
- Attempted "boot -c" at the boot> prompt → still hangs at same address
- Tried multiple USB sticks (different brands/models) → same behavior
- Tried front-panel USB ports and rear I/O ports → no luck

I tried the display port with no luck. I tried using AI to help me solve this problem but it's actually harder than I thought. Hopefully this bug is fixed in 7.8 which probably comes out sometime next month.
