I would look at the service manuals for both systems as they each have a power supply pinout.
compare both and you will quickly see that the z220 has a custom 6 pin motherboard header

if you have a 18 pin connector, you do not have a z220 motherboard, they all use the 6pin pwr connector
you might possibly have a z230 board, however you need to determine this before you proceed.
can you post several pictures of the board and list the HP part numbers off the board
if you do have the z230 then this adapter is needed

again,... please provide the HP part numbers off the white label on the motherboard that is between the cpu socket and the black pci-e 8x slot. it will allow a positive board ID
i'm guessing it might be a 655581 001 board For the HP Z220 CMT
again, take the time to download the service manuals for the z220 and z420 COMPARE the power supply pinouts between the two and if they match you will have your answer also i see what appears to be a white 4 pin connector for CPU power if this is so does your ATX supply have a 4pin CPU aux connector? (some do some don't) and based on what i've seen the adapters for the z420/620 WILL NOT WORK ON THE z220
based on the above i strongly recomend you simply buy a z220 power supply

I'd be careful when doing this.
Just because you have an adapter to go from 18 pin to 24 pin does not always mean it will work.
Our workstations do not always follow the standard pinouts.
Workstations are not designed to have their PSU's upgraded and are only designed to use the PSU's made for it.
