Those are impressive charts - but sadly my question is not addressed. Perhaps some expert can assist in this: I have a z620 workstation. I have reasons to believe that the power supply is slowly losing current delivery capability. My question is IF the Power Supply for the z640 (rated about 20% higher) is swappable with the z620's. In other words: I'd like to upgrade my PS to the same used in a z640. They LOOK identical. Other than the power-rating: Are they? Thanks!

i don't have the z6x0 series, but i do know that the z820 and z840 use different units and i expect the z6x0 series is the same
is there a reason the optional HP 800 watt z620 power supply will not work for you?
I recommend you check the "service manuals" that hp has for both systems and in then locate the pwr supply pinouts for each model and compare
all is not lost however as you can buy a HP to ATX power supply adapter for your z620 and then use any HIGH QUALITY NAME BRAND POWER SUPPLY

@z620enthusiast -- I have reasons to believe that the power supply is slowly losing current delivery capability.
How have you determined that? Did you use a multi-meter, to measure the voltage & amperage being delivered to each "pig-tail" coming-out from your power-supply?

There is just one HP power supply for the Z620 workstation. Some other workstations had both a normal and a high-power option, but not this one. It is 800W only, a unique shape, and has a built-in receptacle that slides in and meshes with a built-in plug system inside the workstation.
That does not mean that another non-HP power supply would be impossible to use but it won't be easy...
