I have 8 LRDIMMs of 32 GB and I want these configured on the motherboard of my HP Z840 workstation. According to the manual is that for both CPUs (0 and 1) on locations DIMM 1, 3, 6, 8. But when I use the places 3, and/or 6 on CPU1, I get red light and beeps. The other 6 positions give no problem, only on DIMM 3 and 6 for CPU1.

Types of memory supported on an HP Z840 are:
• 32 GB, 64 GB, and 128 GB PC4-2133R 2133 MHz LR DIMMs supported on Intel® Haswell (v3) processors
the broadwell (v4) cpu's are not listed as a approved config for broadwell (v4) cpu's
1,3,6,8 is for a SINGLE OR DUAL CPU config using "LR" Load Reducing a v3 Haswell (v3) processor

if swapping dimms between the memory banks to check for a bad dimm does not show any difference, then you may have a bad cpu (memory ctrl is in cpu) bad cpu socket (pins not contacting cpu [pads) or bad motherboard
