Product: HP Z840 Workstation
Operating System: Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Hi, my Z840 workstation is sluggish.

I have a dual xeon E5 2678 v3 2.5Ghz cpus, 128Gb ddr4 ram.

I can see on CPU-Z that the frequency is stuck at 1200 or 2500 Mhz (12x and 25x mutiplier), never goes higher.

I have the latest firmware 2.62 factory settings and the power plan on Windows 10 set to high-performance.

 

Can you recommend fast and economic E7 or E5 cpus compatible with it?

I'd rather have higher mhz and fewer cores.

 

Please note that according to System devices, my motheroard comes with the Intel C610Series/X99 chipset, so it seems to be supporting both E7 and E5.
