z8G4

ISO issue on z8 G4 with installing 8.10 and also 9.5
There is an issue that the both ISO stops after selecting “manual partitoning” with a black screen and solid cursor
This is on a z8 G4 only - the same USB key works with a z840

Tried multiple USB keys
Z8 G4 BIOS is 2.95 – tried rolling back to 2.94
My older 8.7 USB works fine on z8 with the 2.95 BIOS (and z840)
Tried resetting BIOS

have secure boot turned off
Tried dd to make key and rufus and balenaEtcher – to make USB keys and same issue

Switched to legacy non UEFI and that did not work at all
is this some UEFI setting that i have wrong that is in the newer HP BIOSs?

this version of Linux is not currently certified for your hardware, as such you are the compliance tester of the OS

i suspect that the issue is related to your manual partitioning, try removing the HP disk which most likely has a custom partition used to restore the HP shipped OS and install a clean storage device then use the OS's auto detect/install

another reason for OS install failure is the Z8's hardware not being compatible with the current build of rocky Linux as i mentioned in my first sentence

if you do resolve the problem let the users here know if possible

HI

we are not alone in using z8G4 and Rocky 8.10 - this configuration is recommended by Autodesk.  i will report to them your comments.  in addition this issue is seen with Rocky 9.5 ISO but not the Rocky 9.3 ISO

in addition i have tried more than one HDrive and removed partitions so the HDrive was "raw" and this did not help

thanks for your help

as i stated, remove all drives but the one getting the OS and let the setup use it's auto install/config
