Hi everyone,
I'm currently managing an HP ProLiant DL380 Gen10 server and am looking to upgrade it to better support a more demanding virtualization environment. We plan to run multiple virtual machines using VMware, and I want to ensure the server is fully optimized for this purpose.
Here are my questions:
- What are the best options for upgrading the RAM to maximize performance? How much RAM can the DL380 Gen10 support?
- Are there any recommended storage configurations (e.g., SSD vs. HDD, RAID setups) that would enhance performance for virtualization?
- We're considering upgrading the CPUs to handle more intensive workloads. What are the most compatible and powerful processors for this model?
- Are there any BIOS settings or firmware updates that I should apply before making these upgrades?
- Has anyone here configured a similar setup? If so, what challenges did you face, and how did you overcome them?
I'd appreciate any insights or recommendations from those who have experience with similar setups or who are knowledgeable about HP ProLiant servers.
Thanks in advance for your help!

Hi:
HP split into two companies 10 years ago.
HP supports PC's, printers, tablets and calculators.
HP Enterprise (HPE) supports servers, switches, routers and enterprise storage devices.
You may also want to post your question on the HPE community support forum -- Proliant servers section.
