HP Z4 G4 Workstation (1JP11AV)
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

I recently purchased a used Z4 G4 workstation. I currently own five z series workstations and all of them have an option to enable the tpm inside the bios.  For some reason this Z4 G4 Workstation does not.  If I click security from the top options and then under security configuration, there are supposed to be three options.  TPM Embedded Security, Bios Sure Start and then System Security. Bios Sure Start and System Security are listed on my bios, but for some reason TPM Embedded Security is missing.  I've updated to the latest bios and I even tried to download the tpm firmware update tool to see if that would fix it, but the tool can't find the tpm as well.  I'm wondering if there is a jumper on the motherboard that I need to reset or move.  Has anyone else ever encountered this with a Z series workstation?  I know they come with TPM installed.  Any suggestions will be greatly appreciated!

depending on the region or customer configured options (CTO) the TPM may have been disabled by HP on a hardware level

usually (but not always) a label affixed to the chassis or motherboard will state this

you might want to also check the bios revision, (which you have done)  and if necessary update it then try a factory bios default by doing a cmos reset or pressing the cmos reset button on the motherboard

last in the bios make sure no items have been disabled such as USB/Serial/TPM and so on

There are some configuration stickers on the chassis, but it doesn't show that the tpm was disabled.  I have held the cmos reset button and that didn't work to resolve the tpm issue, but it did reset the bios settings.  I'm guessing that HP must have disabled it.  Do you know of a way to re-enable it?  I'm guessing if it comes right down to it, I could order another motherboard.  Do you think that would even resolve this issue?
