Question for someone who has installed the F3F43AT Thunderbolt 2 add-on-card into a certified HP workstation like my Z820: If I don't run a display port cable from the output of my graphics card to the input of the Thunderbolt 2 card, will it still work? I just need data (to connect to a RAID drive) and not drive any monitors. Moreover, in my case, I'm not using one of the "certified" Quado cards on HP Quick Spec sheet.

In thinking about this some more, can someone give me an example where you would need to or want to run displayport video through a Thunderbolt cable rather than just connect your monitors directly to all those Displayport, HDMI, and DVI ports on the end of your PCIe 3.0 x 16 graphics card?
I'm running three monitors directly from connections to my NVIDIA card.
