I would expect the files to be on the SSD.  A host PC that can read the SSD with the adapter shown or by using a different adapter is your best bet.  Do not give up.  Perhaps a desktop would have a better chance as some laptops might not be able to power the SSD from the USB port.

SO the one in the screenshots before is not an SSD drive! why did you say that you expect the files to be on the ssd?

The black one is not an SSD?

Trying to clarify the situation -

The scenario described in the beginning was that your laptop failed.  The IT department " they gave me the ssd to extract all the personal data".  The picture of the SanDisk (the black one) disk appears to be a typical SSD for the purposes as described, for use in a laptop.  Under typical conditions, that disk, that was given to you by the IT department so you could find the documents, is the most likely place to find the files.  When it is connected properly, to a hosting PC, with a usable adapter should yield the files for retrieval.

The screenshots shown for retrieval attempts do not show the SanDisk SSD, so either the adapter is not working or the SanDisk drive is not working.  Either reason, I would try a different adapter and/or a different hosting PC to look for the files.
