I have a 2012 Z1 Workstation with an Intel Core i3-2120 CPU 3.30 GHz and was wondering if I could upgrade the cpu to an i5 or i7. Have added 8G RAM to now 16G but did not help the speed. Have looked everywhere on site to get answer but don't know specific cpu that would fit on motherboard. Any help would be appreciated even to point to documentation, many thanks, TIA

Here's what I found.
According to the Service Manual [Page 8] your system has an Intel C206 chipset with "Support for the Intel® Xeon® Processor E3 Family or 2nd generation Intel® Core™ processors up to 95W"
Intels website specifically shows these compatible processors for the C206 chipset.
I suggest you install the latest BIOS and Chipset updates available and perform a full backup of all essential files before proceeding with the upgrade.
