After a windows 11 pro system update for HP Q70 system firmware, my laptop has been starting to say "Updates are underway. Please blah blah blah" before getting into Windows, and after getting into Windows I would get a notification saying I needed to restart the system to finish installation, and clicking the notification did nothing, restarting did nothing... And in device manager the "HP Q70 system firmware" had a warning sign. I knew something must be wrong.
So today, I downloaded my HP ZBook 15 G5's Q70 v1.32.0 BIOS from its download page... Using the "update" option from the softpaq did not do anything, my PC restarted then continued into windows like nothing happened... So I picked the option USB recovery, and I flashed a USB of mine... I plugged the USB and put it first in the boot menu, thinking it was a UEFI bootable drive, then I realised that there's a different way to update the BIOS:
I pressed and held win + B, then pressed the power button for 2 seconds, then kept holding win + B for a while and nothing came on screen... The screen was blank and the fans were very loud... After more than 10 minutes I force shut down by holding the power button. It stopped booting into Windows 11 after that and F10 didn't open the BIOS menu...
So I tried again: I pressed and held Win + B and pressed the power button for a few seconds, this time, I kept holding Win + B for more than 6 minutes before releasing and the screen stayed blank, with the fans very loud... It's now been in this state for 24 minutes... It stayed that way for an hour and I force shut down
