Hi all,
I saw this post a while back about upgrading TPM 1.2 to 2.0 on the HP Z420 and other older workstations. It got me curious and I finally found something that may work to upgrade the TPM formware, bu I was curious to see if anyone else had found anything similar?
My Z420 still rocks and I would love to make it Windows 11 Capable. It would appear a number of slightly newer HP workstations have a TPM update, and the Zx20 era of machines shouldn't be any different as they also have an Infineon TPM which seems to be 2.0 capable. See the blog post about upgrading TPM firmware here: [content removed]
Basically I am wondering if anyone has tried something similar to the referenced blog post to update their TPM and how it went...
Thanks in advance!

the zx20 line of workstations used a different TPM chip than the other systems used due to this it's impossible to flash different code onto them
i believe all Zx20 workstations used a infineon SLB9635 chip soldered directly onto the motherboard for TPM 1.2,
this chip is not TPM 2.0 compatible and is no longer in production
https://www.digikey.com/htmldatasheets/p...duct-brief.html
it was superseded/replaced by the SLB 9660 which appears to be pin compatible with the SLB 9665
can a SLB 9665 TPM 1.2/2.0 chip be used to replace the existing 9635 chip? perhaps,........ want to risk your working board to find out? and even if successful you still have the unsupported CPU issue so what's the point of trying to get TPM 2.0 in the first place?

Thanks for the informative response. I didn't realise that there was a hardware limitation of the TPM chip at play here... A bit of a shame.
It was my understanding that the TPM version was a hard requirement, however Microsoft would allow unsupported processors (at your own risk).
Thanks heaps!
