Microsoft Windows 11

Hello,

I would like to understand if it is possible to extend the desktop of my business laptop (an HP Elitebook) to my private PC's internal monitor (HP Pavilion)?

I have tried via HDMI cable and I have the docking station HP G5 but it doesn't work.

Also, can I activate HDMI IN ?

Thanks for your help

Prométhée, feel free to add to any of my posts, i have no issues with anyone doing so

TO the original poster "OP", the advice to see if your AIO has a video in setting either via a button or among it's display settings is spot on go through the display settings and if not there,.... it might auto switch to video in mode if the AIO sees a valid video in signal

in theory all you need to do is either select "Extend" or "Clone" your laptops desktop then see if the AIO display shows in device manager

most All In One systems do not support video in (they only have video out) which is required to use the screen as a monitor

however some midrange and high-end systems do offer this feature

does your AIO have a video in option? check the back jacks or read the documentation for your model if it has this feature the manual will cover how to use it

Hi @ile123  @DGroves

only one motherboard @DGroves  here

Rear I/O ports

  • (1) RJ-45 Ethernet port
  • (1) HDMI 1.4a output port
  • (1) HDMI 1.4b input port
  • (2) USB 2.0 Type-A ports
  • (1) USB 3.2 Gen 1 Type-A port (5 Gbps data transfer)
  • (1) Power input port

it should be ok then if it s this one !

Hi @Prométhée, @DGroves

Thanks a lot for both answers!

Yes there is 1x HDMI IN  but I cannot figure out how to activate it to duplicate my business laptop screen.

I guess it might be due to some internal restrictions from by business laptop then.

@ile123  I just intervened for this small detail of the motherboard..
I leave it  to @DGroves   you to continue if he can bring you the solution..
just that I don't know if stated in the documentation he gave?
but I did not see any mention of a button to activate, as for some models
check if you are using the right cables, and the right input (I think no worries for that, but you never know)
possibly indicate the exact models of the two computers
@DGroves  sorry, I leave you, now
