I'm back and have replaced the motherboard with a "new" one and the K2200 now works!  Thanks everyone for your suggestions.

Possibly a different topic but it doesn't recover from sleep.  I get a DP no signal and to get it running again I have to pull the plug to completely remove power.  Any thoughts?

I guess another off topic question - what is an acceptable max temp for M.2 SSDs?

@e_ley,

OK, that symptom usually points to an S3 (Sleep) resume issue after the motherboard replacement. Try the following:

  1. Update BIOS & ChipsetInstall the latest BIOS (V. 01.92), Intel MEI, and chipset drivers from HP Support.

  2. BIOS Power Settings – In BIOS (F10 → Advanced → Power Management), set S3 (Suspend to RAM) = Enabled and Deep Sleep = Disabled, if available.

  3. Windows Power Options – Disable Fast Startup and uncheck "Allow this device to wake the computer" for non-essential devices in Device Manager.

  4. DisplayPort Quirk – Some Quadro K2200 cards fail to re-handshake after sleep. Try another DP cable or HDMI to confirm.

If your problem persists, use Hibernate (S4) instead of Sleep (S3) — it's more reliable on older workstation platforms.

So, to use Hibernate (S4) instead of Sleep (S3):

  1. Enable Hibernate

    • Open Control Panel → Power Options → Choose what the power buttons do.

    • Click Change settings that are currently unavailable.

    • Under Shutdown settings, check Hibernate and click Save changes.

  2. Use Hibernate Manually

    • Click Start → Power → Hibernate, or press Alt + F4 on the desktop and choose Hibernate.

  3. Make Hibernate the Default Sleep Action (optional)

    • Go to Control Panel → Power Options → Change plan settings → Change advanced power settings.

    • Expand Sleep → Hibernate after, and set a time (e.g., 30 minutes).

    • Or under Power buttons and lid, set Sleep button action = Hibernate.

Hibernate fully powers off your system but restores your session on the next startup — avoiding DisplayPort handshake issues tied to S3 sleep -or so the idea goes.

Kind Regards,

@NonSequitur777,

Thanks for the detailed response.

Bios is at 1.92

The only thing close to MEI that I can find is Intel Power Engine Plug-in.  Is that it?

Chipset drivers.  Are all the Intel(R) 100 Series/C230 Series ones in the picture supposed to be updated?  One at a time?

An S3 setting doesn't show up anywhere that I can find.

Disabled Fast Startup and left the mouse as the only thing that will wake it up (I believe).

Don't have another DP cable.

Monitor will accept HDMI but neither the motherboard nor the K2200 has one.
