Hello, 

I have a vh240a HP monitor 23.8" and i need the power adapter, it says it requires a 100 - 240 VAC at 50/60 Hz. What kind of power cord and with what kind of output voltage and current should i get that would work? Can I purchase one off the HP website?

It uses power cord part #  21565-001 which is  NO LONGER SUPPLIED. You can use part # to search online including eBay

Correction of a slight typo:

The correct part no. of the power cord is: 121565-001

as can be seen in URL:

Press the Photo icon on the left hand column to view the shape of the power cord.

To be honest, I am still at a loss why people are answering questions like yours as if they are sharing/handling privileged information.
