Hello,
I have a vh240a HP monitor 23.8" and i need the power adapter, it says it requires a 100 - 240 VAC at 50/60 Hz. What kind of power cord and with what kind of output voltage and current should i get that would work? Can I purchase one off the HP website?

Its specs
https://support.hp.com/au-en/document/c05624169
It uses power cord part # 21565-001 which is NO LONGER SUPPLIED. You can use part # to search online including eBay

Correction of a slight typo:
The correct part no. of the power cord is: 121565-001
as can be seen in URL:

Press the Photo icon on the left hand column to view the shape of the power cord.

To be honest, I am still at a loss why people are answering questions like yours as if they are sharing/handling privileged information.
Anyway, @banhien happens to be quite right about eBay. And here is an actual informational internet link that you can click on and look at: hp 121565-001: Search Result | eBay.
Hope this was helpful.
Kind Regards,
