These devices ship preconfigured with 32Gb DDR4/ 512Gb SSD/ 2Tb HDD/ Windows 10 Pro.
Anyone able to shed light on why HP Australia opted to configure these with the 2Tb as the C:\ (boot) drive and the 512Gb SSD as the data drive? It seems very counter-intuitive to me for performance. HP NZ are at a loss to explain it.
I ask, as I failed to check this before installing additional apps like Acrobat Pro, PhotoShop and CAD software and then delivering to the client. He wasn't overly impressed with the lethargic performance compared to his 8-year old i7 no-name. At great inconvenience I've had to remove and reinstall his apps to the SSD.
I haven't yet delivered his second machine as I wish to flip the drive arrangement first.

I don't think HP USA would have answers for what HP AU does......you would need to ask HP AU about their default configs for their region's model lines
with that said are you sure that this was not a CTO (configured to order) or a refurbed system?
it's possible that someone took a existing system that had a SSD, installed a mech drive and then reinstalled the OS image to that drive without reconfiguring the BIOS so the SSD was the primary boot device

Forgive me in advance, but your response is not overly helpful. Firstly, .I wasn't aware that this was a US only forum.
The machines in question are not refurbs. The machine HP model number may well be Oceania specific.
I checked with HP NZ (as that's were I am) and they've confirmed that this was a config dreamed up by HP AU. HP NZ do not understand the config described either.
Tried Clonezilla and Gparted to swapover. Liitle joy. The challenge remains.

please reread my post, nowhere did is say that this was a US only forum, all i did was point out that this user forum "IS" based in the USA and due to this we have almost no information on what other HP regions may or may not be doing and as such will be unable to offer much information other than to post your question on the HP AU forum or contact HP AU with your question directly
