Z2 G5 mini is listed to be sold with Xeon W-1250P and W-1290P and DDR4-3200 SO DIMM.
W-1350P is a more recent release and specifications are mostly a mixture within the bounds of the listed CPUs.
Biggest difference is upgraded Intel HD 730 graphics. This is supported by a commen Intel graphics driver for Z2 G5 and Z2 G8 models.
So can I install a W-1350P or does the bios specifically need to recognise it?

It is not possible for HP to test every processor for every motherboard.
So, the specifications can list only those few processors that have been tested.
So can I install a W-1350P
Certainly, you can try, but there is no "guarantee" of success.
does the bios specifically need to recognise it?
If you can find an updated BIOS, it is possible that the documentation that is included with the "bundle" (that includes the BIOS file and the BIOS updater-program) might list that this newer BIOS "adds support for the W-1350P processor". Do the research before updating the BIOS. Definitely, do not install the new processor until AFTER you have done the update.
