Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Hi,

i'm tryng to setup up a raid 1 with two original z2 g8 HP SSD m.2 512gb  but is impossible.

In this post https://h30434.www3.hp.com/t5/Business-PCs-Workstations-and-Point-of-Sale-Systems/Z2-G8-m-2-raid1-pr...  the problem and the solution appear, and says the following extracted from the technical specifications:

"NOTE: In order to configure Z Turbo Drive RAID, the first SSD must be installed in the PCH connected  M.2 slot and the second SSD must be installed in a PCIe add in card. This is automatically configured when Z Turbo RAID is selected at time of system purchase."

Following these indications, we have purchased a pcie to M2 card and I get the same result.
what's going on? I ask if someone has encountered the same situation or some HP moderator has a solution. We have purchased 8 workstations with raid 1 requirement.

while i don't have a z2 based workstation, i do know the HP Turbo "z" cards when used in earlier z8x0 systems require setting the cards ID jumpers when using more than one of these turbo z card in z820/z840 workstations, see the attached pdf file

hope the above helps

Thanks but that guide shows how to do a software RAID which is not the goal, we want to do a hardware RAID using IRST (Intel Rapid Storage Manager) motherboard feature

HP Recommended

the intel iRST raid is not really a hardware raid, it's software raid that intel has placed into the Bios, as such a more accurate description would be firmware based raid and this raid does not have any cache/onboard battery backup and no dedicated cpu for raid calculations that a true raid setup has. the onboard intel does have one useful feature it can be a boot drive for raid 0/1 setups

please read the document on setting the "z" turbo cards ID configuration

Thanks again but we intend to make a bootable raid 1, in that guide it indicates how to make a RAID for 2 data disks.
In our PCIe card we do not have jumpers for configuration.

After several conversations with HP support that have led nowhere, we have chosen to replace the original Z turbo disks with Samsung EVO SSD SATA disks, with which we have no problem making a raid 1 bootable.

Also, looking at the specifications of the equipment, it seems to indicate that with the Z Turbo it is only possible to do a data raid.

Unfortunately we will not be purchasing this equipment again in the future.
