On the quick specs sheet for the Z2 G9 SFF it states there is a ")Thunderbolt™ 3 with USB4 Type-C® 40Gbps port (cabled to
PCIe® AIC)" What is the model number for this please. Also why do you put this information on your quick specs and then give no model numbers. It's impossible to find out.

Many Thanks! Scott

@scottr1976tx,

Welcome to our HP Community forum!

For the HP Z2 G9 Small Form Factor (SFF) workstation, the specification: “Thunderbolt™ 3 with USB4 Type-C 40Gbps port (cabled to PCIe AIC)” refers to an optional PCIe add-in card that provides Thunderbolt 3/USB4 functionality. This is not standard on all units and must be configured at purchase or added aftermarket (if supported by the motherboard and BIOS).

The HP part numbers for the Thunderbolt card compatible with the Z2 G9 SFF are:

HP Thunderbolt 3 PCIe 1-port I/O Card (4CX35AA) with HP p/n: M36342-001

HP Thunderbolt 3 PCIe 2-port I/O Card (3UU05AA) with HP p/n: L33676-001

The SFF platform requires a low-profile bracket for installation.

Sometimes newer variants are used, depending on region and exact motherboard revision, but L33676-001 has been the go-to for multiple Z-series systems. Be sure to check BIOS settings and that your system has the required internal Thunderbolt header and power cable -some base models may lack these.

Also, you're absolutely right -it would be helpful if HP included the relevant part numbers in the QuickSpecs footnotes or accessory sections. Until then, the community and internal manuals are often the best way to track this info down.

Let me know if you need help installing it or verifying compatibility with your unit!

Kind Regards,
