Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Hey you lovelies,

since I´ve already (successfully) tested the Quadro K4200 and K2200 (which is currently in use), I wonder if it´d make sense to get a K5200.

It´s PCIE Gen3 afaik, not sure it will run in a Gen2 system, so I figured asking the experts over here might be a good idea before buying said card.

Thanks in advance

I have GTX-1070 in my Z400. I use to have a pair of them but it got too hot even though the "inside"  one was a hybrid.    The X5680 is also liquid cooled.  The system runs at Gen2 so the board downgrades to gen2

ok, so this means there is a chance that even newer cards might run in my good old workstation, correct ?

PCI-E generations are backwards and forward compatible,

you can install a pcie 3 card in a pcie 2 system and it will work fine, just slower

same for installing a pcie 2 card in a pcie 3 based system, the card will run at pcie 2 speeds

personally, unless the newer card has a feature that you current card does not ( such as more vram or directx 12) i would not upgrade
