All the memory modules were fine using the 2699 cpu, it's when I put the I7 in the machine to parrot your build is when it wouldn't boot and would give the 5 beeps, so it's definitely an I7 issue and/or motherboard version maybe? What MB was your build?. I'm going to clear cmos and try again, if it still does it go back to the 2699v3 cpu and prove everything else out. I've been so torked about it not working, I haven't touched it since. Maybe tonight.

Could very well be -perhaps you can only use up to a maximum of 16GB RAM sticks with an i7-6900K.

I'm going to start with that assumption since yours had 16GB sticks, correct? And they the ECC that isn't supposed to work with the I7 LOL correct? This will be kind of funny, watch it will work with the ecc memory the cpu isn't supposed to work with but only 16GB and not the 32 currently working with the 2699v3 which the motherboard is only supposed to support up to 16GB sticks...... Anyway I'll start with that presumption and buy 4 16GB ECC RDIMMs

NonSequitur777 Just another question before I order yet more memory LOL. Does the motherboard determine the type of memory used or the CPU? I'm wondering since the I7-6900 states it uses non ecc memory, should I order that rather than ecc? Or does the motherboard determine it has to be ECC? Thanks! Hope I can get this going. My scores aren't bad for my use, I battleship carrier and carrier with the 2699v3, but would be sweet to get your scores, but I probably won't as i have a RTX3600 not a 38or3900 gpu.

This is what I bought: "Samsung M393A2K43BB1-CTD6Q 16GB 2Rx8 DDR4 PC4-2666 ECC REG RDIMM Server RAM sticks set of 4".
This is a very similar 4x16GB DDR4 PC4-2666V (stand for low/reduced voltage, shouldn't be an issue) ECC REG RDIMM Server RAM sticks set of 4: Samsung M393A2K43BB1-CTD6Y via a trusted eBay Seller: https://www.ebay.com/itm/316388794721?_skw=4x16GB+Samsung+M393A2K43BB1&epid=4045688301&itmmeta=01JNH....

Here is another HP Z440 Workstation Intel Core i7-6850K processor User who also installed Server RAM: HP Z440 Workstation Performance Results - UserBenchmark: using 4x8GB Samsung M393A1G40EB1-CRC.
And another Server RAM User [i7-6900K] HP Z440 Workstation Performance Results - UserBenchmark: using 4x8GB Samsung M393A1G43DB0-CPB.
