Hello,
I'm new to the computer world. So I apologize if I don't speak the language well. I have a Z620 that I upgraded to 2-e5-2643 v1.
I would like to go with 2 e5-2690 v1. Upon ordering them they come with no pins on the cpu. Now I know that's pretty common now days, but will this still work in my case? My 2 e5-2643 came with pins on the back. I could use some help!
HP Z620 2=e5-2643 v1
GTX 970
Ram: 96gb
4tb SSD

The short answer is, yes. The E5-2690 v1 cpu's are compatible with your system. I recommend you purchase a good quality thermal paste for mounting the CPU's. If you are new to this, then I would strongly recommend watching a couple of Youtube videos BEFORE starting the upgrade.
The E5-2643 cpu does NOT have pins on this device;
Please refer to the HP Z620 quickspecs for any additional technical information regarding your computer;

Hello,
Thank you for your answer. But my E5-2643 does have pins. I installed them myself. And the CPU I took out both had pins. It’s to my understanding that cpu without pins, have the pins already in the socket. When I take out my CPU there are no pins in the socket. So essentially my e5-2690 would just lay there with no contact.

Please see the image below of the HP Z620 onboard cpu socket, pins are clearly visible. Do you have any images of the CPU's?

I’m so sorry Brian,
I’m an idiot and somehow didn’t see that it didn’t have pins. You are correct and I’m embarrassed. Not sure how I missed that. I guess I was thinking of an older AMD cpu I installed earlier this month. I apologize and appreciate your help!
