Hi guys,
i have a problem here.
when i use CPU-Z to check the frequency of my CPU, it seems to be stucked at 2.6ghz only.
according to the intel spec, the XEON E5-2660 V2 turbo mode is to get 3ghz. but no matter how i try, it's just stuck at 2.6 ghz.
XTU doesn't work on the CPU too.
i'm suffering from some performance issue on softwares that uses heavily on single core calculation.
help needed

Hi Alchemis,
Please note that NONE of the E5-2xxx CPU's have unlocked multipliers so won't work with XTU. Only specific E5-1xxx CPU's have unlocked multipliers, e.g. E5-1650/60/80 v1, v2 and v3 variants. These later CPU's can be overclocked for higher single threaded performance.
Regarding the issue of not achieving the 3GHz turbo, this is most likely due to your BIOS settings. Make sure PCIe Performance mode is disabled and that the CPU legacy tables are enabled in the BIOS.
If you decide to opt for a E5-1xxx CPU and XTU then I would suggest you read this post.

it seems like even i tried to change the bios settings... it's still stuck at 2.6 ghz...
pci e performance disabled
cpu legacy acpi table enabled
still stuck...
btw.. how did you access the bios without going into the bios using F10 or ESC ?

Hi Alchemis,
The screen shot you seen was from the HP Performance Advisor. If you don't have them installed already then I would suggest you download and install the 2 free HP programs (specifically for HP workstations);
HP Performance Advisor
HP Support Assistant
I would suggest you also check your Windows power settings in the control panel, i.e. select High Performance mode;
And in the BIOS;

i've confirmed that the 2 bios settings are correct but i'm not getting anything more than 2.6ghz..
but what i did is i copied exactly everything... and i found out i got 2.8 ghz maxed... but still not 3ghz...
it's a good start 🙂

Can you confirm whether you have one or two E5-2660 v2 CPU's installed?
Also, what is your memory configuration, i.e. the size and number of memory modules?

Try downloading and running CPUID HW Monitor as this is a much easier tool to check your CPU clock speed. You could also download and install Passmarks Performance Test 9.0 as you can easily run a single threaded CPU test.

it seems like i got 3ghz everytime it just touch there and goes off... doesn't see it often...
just weird.... there are a few options i change from legacy to uefi... other than that.. those are standard... and i can see 3ghz....
