HP Z6 G4 Workstation
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Hi,

I wonder why my z6g4 CPUs are so hot (around 60-70°C) on idle, no rendering or 3D work! When rendering it reaches around 95°C.

No improvement after applying new Thermal paste. Both CPUs have their own fans. Is there anything I can do to cool the machine?

Thank you.

your xeon gold 6154 is a 200 watt cpu

https://ark.intel.com/content/www/us/en/ark/products/120495/intel-xeon-gold-6154-processor-24-75m-ca...

TCase is 0-82 c (cpu case temperature) 0c is when the system/cpu is in the off/unpowered state

Max Tdts 106°C (Digital Thermal Sensor)

the above numbers are the Official Intel MAXIMUM allowed values, anything below these numbers are considered to be within Intel's allowed acceptable range

as such you posted numbers are well within the intel stated range so you do not appear to have any problems other than intel being unable to make a cpu that is not a power hungry cpu that dissipates quite a bit of thermal energy.............................

since the Z6 G4 support cpu's that range from 85 watt to 200 watt there is no way to answer your question

perhaps you might care to list which cpu or cpu's you have if you actually want a reply
