Hi,

I have some 32gb RDIMM sticks already(256 GB total) and would like to buy an used workstation to put them in.

I found some used HP Z840 workstations on ebay.

The official documentation states that the Z840 might support 32gb of RDIMM(registered) RAM in some cases(the earlier specs did not state this...only up to 16gb/stick for rdimm).

https://www8.hp.com/h20195/v2/GetDocument.aspx?docname=4aa5-4045enw

So im not sure if the used Z840 on ebay with v3 processors support my 32gb RDIMM sticks.

@Gogo3

Please use the table on page 18 of the following document

     https://www8.hp.com/h20195/v2/getpdf.aspx/c04400043.pdf

Yes, it supports up to 64GB of RAM on 1 slot as mentioned on page 14. Again this depends on configuration.

Regards.

Thank you. My question is RDIMM(Reg DIMM) specific.

On the page 18 it also states that:

Memory TypeSupported
DDR4 R-DIMM (Registered), ECC: 4GB, 8GB, and 16GB DDR4
LR-DIMM (Load Reduced), ECC: 32GB (64GB and 128GB added after initial release)
...and that is not consistent with informations on page 14(that mentions 32gb RDIMM support).

Do you think that this configuration supports 32gb of RDIMM (not LRDIMM) /slot(module)?
