Hi,
I am taking over a thin client deployment. In the past my company had thin clients domain joined. To make things simpler I am wanting to change them all to workgroup non domain joined and have a simple interface using EasyShell. And give the user access to Citrix, and two websites the HR web site. Since we won’t be on the domain would it be an ok strategy to install the msi’s for HP and Lexmark universal drivers on all the machines? And then to install each printer needed it’s just a registry key deployed right? Is there a good guide that goes over printer installing in HPDM?

Is it a must for users to have printing options on the thin client self? why not only print trough the Citrix environment? The best advise is to make the thin clients as simple as possible.
If there is realy no other way, you can make a task or a series of tasks (task sequence) in HPDM to deploy printer drivers and settings using the "File and Registry" task template.
- first you deploy the installation files tot the thin client
- than you run the commands to install it (ask the printer manufacturer for the right install parameters for command line installation)
- If needed you can apply regkeys or more commands for printer settings
- make sure you remove the installation files at the end
Have in mind that the client will reboot two times during this process if the write filter is on, so better infrom your users or plan the installation at night using WOL to turn on the clients.
