HP EliteDesk 800 g1 mini pc
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Hi!
I have HP Elitedesk 800 g1 mini pc. I would like to upgrade with M2 pcie ssd card. Ssd is not recognized by the BIOS and the device manager (type: Sandisk x400 M2 2280 128gb NGFF). What might be the problem? Perhaps someone could tell you a model that works for Elitedesk 800 g1?

is this the SFF (Small Form Factor) or mini tower model that has a 2.5 HD bay

if you have the SFF model be advised that while it has two M.2 connectors, only ONE can be used for storage devices (ssd )

the other M.2 connector is not for storage, only for wireless cards

i recomend you download the service manual for your computer as it covers this in detail

again,.... the system can use a 2.5 SATA drive or a PCI-e SSD

i think you are confused between the M.2 connector being the same for SATA/NVME/PCI-e based ssd's each interface is diffrent.

you require a PCI-e based SSD for this computers M.2 slot (not a sata one)

you can  buy  a sata 2280 adapter to allow you to use a sata M.2 ssd connected to the computers sata port

your sandisk x400 is a SATA interface drive and is compatable with your computer however if the bios does not see it then either a  bios settings is wrong, or the pci-e carrier is defective or the SSD itself is defective

what model pci-e carrier is being used? and which pci-e slot is the carrier installed in? also try disconnecting all other drives and just have the ssd/carrier installed

you might also try a bios reset to defaults,  (note current bios drive related settings)

Service manual writes. Turbo Drive (M.2 PCIe) 1 ea. M.2 PCIe x4-
2280
(for storage)
This means that it should be NGMe. Sandisk x400 is NGFF. Is this a problem?

i have no idea what you are trying to say

again, the Sandisk x400 SSD is compatable as it's a SATA interface SSD and is available as a 2.5 in HD package that uses the normal cablles to connect to the motherboard, or as a M.2 2280 package

the HP turbo Drive, is also SATA based and will work, it is a M.2  2280 package and uses a PCI-e 4 lane interface

the HP turbo Drive G2 is NOT SATA, it's a 2280 package NVME based drive and will not work as a boot drive

(will work as Data drive)

again, how is the ssd being connected to the motherboard? via M.2 or by a normal sata connection
