Edit: Paul T, above, has quite a bit of experience with these and I believe is running W11 on his.

It depends on the processor speed too... a slow processor will automatically bring the memory speed down to match, and vice versa. I looked up and found the most recent HP QuickSpecs PDF document on your computer (v26) and in that the fastest processor is the Core i7-880 which can run DDR3 1333MHz memory at full speed. Here's the LINK for that processor on the Intel Ark site. Under its "Ordering and Compliance" section there is only one sSpec code (SLBPS), and if you search eBay for that you'll find some with lowest price plus shipping for US eBay of about $60.00 USD (shipped from China). If you step down a bit in speed for your processor you'll find ones that are less expensive, shipped from US and that can still run 1333MHz memory. There is a link to that v26 QuickSpecs HERE.

That computer is quite old... you can do better with something newer like a Z440 or a version 2 Z420. I'd go for the Z440.

Hi:

The maximum speed the HP 8100 Elite CMT can run the memory at is 1333 MHz.

You have to be very particular about what memory chips you buy for that model PC.

See this discussion...you can also use the memory listed in the discussion, but that probably is not easy to find anymore.

This is the memory I used and it worked fine.
