hp xw6600

What is the best processor to be put on a xw6600 workstation, which has the capacity of installing 2 cpus? I currently have 2 X E5450 @ 3.0GHz!

Don't know if you've found your answer yet, but the E5450 quad core processors are the fastest ones your machine will take you want to keep 4 cores per CPU.  However, your machine can take a pair of dual core X5270 (3.50 GHz)  SLBAQ chips.  The X5270 chips are dual core chips with 6MB of cache versus your quad core @3.0Ghz with 12MB of cache.

Resistance is Futile.

thank you thats good to know . the reason for trying to upgrade to the e5450 s is because i happened to have 8 of them sitting around but the system halts and says they require to much power .??
