I recently acquired a z820 computer, when I plugged it in and press the power button, it starts and shuts off within a second. It doesn't beep or show a red light unless I unplug the power cord from the computer, when I do, it beeps 4 times (sometimes it would beep 3 times). I followed the troubleshooting steps for 4 beeps and narrowed it down the the CPU 01 6 socket plug that is causing the start/stop. If I leave it disconnected, the computer runs, but at full fan speed and no response on display. Any thoughts? I was going to remove the right side this evening and check to see if any of those 6 wires have a bare spot, causing the short.
Thanks!

please read the service manual for this system, i really don't understand why people fail to do this before troubleshooting or asking for help!!
the service manual has a extensive section on troubleshooting a system
pay close attention to the "BIST" power supply test and the general troubleshooting flowchart steps
