Hi all,
I am new to the world of VC bridging, had an opportunity to pick up this MGC-25 for close to nothing at a university surplus auction.
Of course everything is sold as is and that is usually not a problem as everything comes sans hard drive and if not already able to be set back to defaults.
I cant find anything on the web or on these forums about a MGC-25 back to factory defaults.
Also i understand this device has a builtin firewall, is that correct? I keep getting no connection when trying to login, i dont even know what port to go in under. All the default ports do not work. A call to university IT has already been tried, they said they would email me if they could find out. Any help would be appreciated.

First of all you have to connect to Control port - it's just its address which is configured with the LCD screen. Of course you have to plug the Control port to your network. The LAN A (signaling/media) address will be configured later when setting IP Service using MGC Manager.

(i) All MGC-25 docs and software can be found >>> here <<<.
(ii) You can use MGC-25 front panel LCD window to see and/or change current control IP address.
(iii) You have to use special software 'MGC Manager' for connecting. Please note that MGC Manager version must be the same as MGC itself one.
(iv) MGC has no builtin firewall. Please keep in mind that MGC has two ethernet ports and two addresses - one for control and the other for signaling and media.
I have to wish you a good luck - you'll need it to get MGC working.
WBR,
Mike

Hey thanks for the reply,
I have read/searched all the manuals for resetting to factory defaults to no avail.
I changed the ip address but not getting anywhere, was thinking the problem is the port number is not default but i dont know.
I have obtained the MGC Manger but it wont connect.
No built in firewall noted.
Ethernet ports, this is where the problem may be. I have Lan A, Lan B, and Control. Lan B does not show in Net Status but Lan A shows no errors when a cable is plugged in.
The control port, should i have another ethernet going to that port on the same network and if so where would that Ip address be configured?
A friend who has limited experience with polycom bridges said to console into it via serial. Reading documentation on that today...
