HP Pavilion 17 Notebook PC
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

I recently updated my Windows 10 OS, which updates the web browser Edge.  When I start up and log in to my computer, I get an error message.  It says:

The code execution cannot proceed because VCRUNTIME140.dll was not found.  Reinstalling the program may fix this problem.

I first looked for answers on a Microsoft forum.  While they could not fix the issue, I did learn that this was an HP program.  One contributor suggested that I come to the HP forums for help.  They also showed which program I needed to reinstall.  However, when I went to the HP website and tried to install it, it didn't show up in my downloads folder.  The site said that it had been downloaded, but it never did.

Getting this message everytime I start my computer is quite irritating, but I am more concerned that this is a more serious problem.

Please help! Thank you.

Hi:

Open the Windows Control Panel, select Programs and Features, right click the entry for the HP 3D DriveGuard, and select Uninstall.

When this has completed, restart the notebook.

When you are at the Windows desktop, download and install the version of HP 3D DriveGuard on the following link, and restart the PC.

I  see a reply on fixing the accelerometerst.exe error which appears to be  found in the HP3 D Drive Guard- I saw a reply by Paul to a user who had the Pavillion notebook - I have HP Envy15 laptop with 64 bit version windows 10,

Can I use the same method of uninstalling and reinstalling using the sp78001-78500 etc link as shown on Paul's answer to fix the error(0xcc000007b)?

Thank you.
