I have the HP Envy 17

at first, I noticed a burning smell and quickly turned off the computer. A few days later, I tried to use it again and it was fine. Only two hours later, without being in active use, I noticed the burning smell and by the time I got to it, the entire computer was smoking heavily. I quickly turned it off and flipped it over, the plastic back cover had melted. Upon further inspection, it was not the battery that had an issue but the resistor for the motherboard. My computer was in warranty at the time of the accident and I started a case with support. They told me to wait 24-48 hours for a call back. It’s been three days and I placed another call, only to be told to wait until Monday. This computer, which wasn’t even in use, tried to catch on fire. My 4 month old daughter had been near the laptop when it caught fire as well. They’re running me in circles and insisting that because I had called a day after the warranty had went up, they’re probably not going to do anything about it. I have pictures with time stamps that prove that this happened two days before the warranty expired. I’ve only had the laptop for a year! Is there anything I can do to get better help? I need the computer for school.
