- How to send a private message?!

Preamble: I would respond on the original topic as suggested with the link named "simply ask a new question" but weirdly I "(..) do not have sufficient privileges for this resource or its parent to perform this action." Also there is no other fitting category I could choose from "I" am sorry.
Regarding the real topic "How To Send A Private Message" as on https://h30434.www3.hp.com/t5/First-Time-Here-Learn-How-to-Post-and-More/How-To-Send-A-Private-Messa... -- no, doesn't work. There is no such button.
How do I send a private message?
Thanks in advance

Hello, and Welcome to the HP Support Community!
What button are you not finding? How are you trying to send a PM? By clicking on a user's name link, or by clicking on the Private Message envelope icon at the top right of each page here on the Forum?
The error message you're seeing about privileges may be due to an attempt to reply to an old, and locked, posting.

Both resp. none! (Just to phrase this clearly in respect to the screenshots/description in my linked "how to" by Sharit_S:
It's not that I don't find the buttons -- they do not exist.

Shouldn't the error message reflect that that? However I wonder why would somebody lock a thread just because it's old. Isn't it relevant anymore?

Apologies for jumping in unannounced.
HP Community policy was changed a while back - it was necessary to lock Private Messages for new members.
The change was made to prevent the hoards of scammers from creating a new account and then scamming other members by sending them a Private Message claiming the scammer was actually an "HP" support person. Yes, it was happening.
It was a mess - and the door was closed.
Only a moderator, admin, or agent can unlock the Private Message privilege for any new member.
We can send a request for Review - we cannot grant the privilege for you.

"Only a moderator, admin, or agent can unlock the Private Message privilege for any new member."
Well, huh.
I would strongly suggest the original link that the OP referred to be "updated" to reflect this change in policy! 😐

Hi @Veps ,
I hope that you are fine. Thanks for participating and visiting the community.
You do not have a permission to send a private message, because you have to get some levels to earned it, or if you make a question that need an answer by private message, we analyse with an internally team to open this feature for you. And a thread is closed when pass some months without answer. So you need to make a new question, making a new question you have more chances to be answered in the community. Because in almost cases an old thread have a owner that do not visit the community anymore.
If you have a question about any HP product, please send your doubt in some of the community category.
Sorry editing here: "About this document it's a document created at 2011, i will share with the team to update the document, thanks @Veps, and thanks guys. "
@Dragon-Fur @WyreNut -- Thanks for take the lead, for being so proactive.
Stay safe guys.
