HP Recommended

Hi all,

What is the theory behind HP ProBooks (and I imagine other HP laptop models too) only shipping with USB-C power adapters as opposed to standard 4.5x3.0mm power adapters?

Just wouldn't it make sense for any HP laptop that still has the 3.0mm power socket on it to make use of it, and leave the USB-C port free for other adapters or devices?

Otherwise, the 3.0mm power ports are basically redundant, unless the end user has an old 4.5x3.0mm power adapter kicking around or purchases an additional one.

Or if not, could HP laptops ship with a USB-C to 4.5x3.0mm adapter, so the end user can decide on what's best for them?

What am I missing?
