I have a DV9260US notebook with an NVIDIA Geforce GO 7600 graphics card......about 1 yr 2 months ago the laptop monitor shut down...first these wierd lines and blueish background than no screen at all....you cant get into the laptop....found out on the internet that many HP customers where having problemswith this combination.....I was about 5 months out of warranty and the product ID # RP243UA was not on the extended warranty list....They wanted $ 400 to repair, replace the motherboard.....because the graphics card is integrated onto the motherboard......after finally speaking top executive customer support ...they repaired it at no charge for me......WELL fast forward about 1 year and 2 months and the same exact thing just recently happened.....no display on the screen and dots and dashes and the blue screen ....again ....a graphics problem.....come to find out there now is a class action lawsuit ...however...my notebook product number and I am sure many others are not on the approved list for repair or replacement of the notebook.....They want $ 400 top repair the notebook with the same defective parts so a year later we can have this same conversation again....According to the class action law suit, my notebook was purchased in the time frame they admitted to having these problems, it is the DV 9200 series notebook, it has an NVIDIA 7600 graphics card or chip set, it is having the display problem as described in the law suit, THE ONLY THING IT DOES NOT HAVE IS THE FACT THAT PRODUCT id # RP243UA IS NOT ON THERE APPROVED LIST.....when I ask why...no one can tell me....THIS IS THE 2ND TIME THIS GRAPHICS CARD HAS FAILED.....THIS WAS A $ 2,200 NOTEBOOK WHEN ORIGINALLY PURCHASED......AN HP REP TOLD ME IT HAS REACHED THE END OF ITS LIFE.......I REPLIED, "THERE DOES NOT SEEM TO BE AN END OF LIVE FOR THE THOUSANDS OF OTHER MODELS YOU HAVE APPROVED AS DEFECTIVE." UNLESS THIS GETS RESOLVED IN A FAIR AND AMICABLE WAY, MY COMPANY WILL NEVER BUY ANOTHER HP PRODUCT AGAIN.....MY IT DEPARTMENT WAS GETTING READY TO PURCHASE ABOUT 45 NEW DESKTOPS, 15 NOTEBOOKS AND 10 LASER PRINTERS......YOU CAN BE SURE THEY WILL NOT BE HP PRODUCTS......I WILL ALSO TELL EVERY CORPORATE HEAD I KNOW AS WELL AS DISTRIBUTE THIS INFORMATION TO MY 32,000 CUSTOMERS NATIONWIDE......WHAT HAPPENED TO HP QUALITY.....I HAD ONE OF THERE LASER PRINTER FOR 11 YEARS WITHOUT ANY PROBLEMS......
