I appreciate the assistance, but the online help is pretty much useless.  (Has been in the past with another HP printer as well.)  This is very frustrating, enough that I will likely never again purchase in HP product.

This printer was working fine, had just printed within 30 min, and then decided for some reason that one cartridge was not intended for the printer.  It is the correct cartridge.  The problem is with the printer...sensor, firmware, whatever.  The "solution" is to find an authorized repair shop.  If I am fortunate enough to do so, the repair will like cost more than a replacement printer and there is no guarantee the issue won't recur the next week.  The option to replace a nearly new cartridge (HP not off brand) that was working fine is not particularly attractive, but at least HP gets more revenue.

Cynically, perhaps this is more marketing than product support.  Did I say was frustrated?!

Is there no way to force a hard reset on the sensor logic?

Again, thanks for your efforts.  I realize that this is an HP problem not yours.  Malaysia just doesn't make American printers the way they used to make them!!
