We have a DesignJet 500 Plotter that we are receiving an "Out of Paper" error message when there is paper in the plotter.

Any suggestions on how to fix this?   We did have power go out due to storms last week, not sure if that is related or not.

There is only two paper sensors in Plotters.  A mechanical switch that detects when you load the roll (underneath on the left side).     I have had old plotters like this have the plastic around the switch warp and the switch does not always work right or just a flakey switch.

The other is the line sensor on the side of the carriage.   This is the optical lens with light sensor.   Maybe lens is dirty or the Optical sensor /  light has gone weak and would need replacement.
