I am trying to connect my HP DesignJet 130 Series printer to my Windows 11 PC via USB cable. However, it is proving to be very difficult to do so. I have downloaded the latest driver from hp support HP DesignJet 130 Printer series Software and Driver Downloads | HP® Support.
Initially, when I connect the USB to my PC, the device is acknowledged by the PC. However, it says that the driver is unavailable as seen in the following screenshot:
To solve this issue, I click on the 'Add Device' button and select 'Add Manually' when it comes up. I then select 'add local printer or network printer with manual settings' > 'Use existing port (LPT1). I click on 'Windows Update' to ensure all models are listed, then I select HP and scroll through the list and select 'HP designjet 130 ' and click Next. I give the printer a name and the driver is installed. I click finish. After doing this, I am able to see the printer, but it is now in an Error state.
I now go to the device manager and select the printer under 'Print Queues', I select update driver > browse my computer for drivers, then I browse to the folder where I extracted the downloaded driver from above and choose the folder. When I click next it gives me the following message:
The printer still is in an error state at this point, so I follow an answer on HP Support Community forum of someone who was having a similar issue on Windows 10: Solved: Two Designjets 130 will not print with Windows 10 - HP Support Community - 5421979.
When I follow these steps, I am met with the following error:
Even if I choose 'let me pick from a list of available drivers on my computer', and scroll to Printers, I get the following screen:
If I select driver 7.0 or 8.10, I am faced with the same error message as seen in the previous screenshot.
I am unsure if there is anything further that I can try, but any assistance would be greatly appreciated.
