Hello all,

I’ve ran into an issue that I can’t resolve with my DesignJet Z6200. It’s been giving me an error code of 86:01. I’ve replaced the belt, encoder reader & encoder strip.

The printer starts up and the carriage moves smoothly, but when carriage slides ALL the way to the left it stops with a “clunk” and triggers the error.

I’ve included a video of the issue, any help would be super appreciated. Thanks!

Just FYI I posted about this a few months ago and attempted the suggestions (besides replacing the motor), I wasn’t able to follow up in the previous thread because too much time had lapsed.

Have you run all the carriage diagnostics. The behavior would suggest an issue with the carriage sensor or the strip as it sounds like it is not able to properly read the width of the carriage.

Is the Clunk the knife engaging (dropping the blade down) or the carriage hitting the limit stop on the left.   clean and Oil carriage rails upper and lower.     Make sure your new encoder did not get any ink or oil fingerprints.   Did you calibrate the line sensor in the service calibration menu.     May be clean the flex ink tubes  and the track they run it (can cause drag).   Carriage motors are very rare to go and would be the very last option.
