HP DesignJet T1600dr 36-in Printer

DesignJet T1600dr frequently goes "disconnected" when printing multiple consecutive drawings via HP Click. After an indeterminate amount of time, the plotter comes back online, and we resume printing until the next disconnection occurs. This "disconnected" state affects all computers on the network simultaneously.

We are always running the latest version of HP Click, and the plotter has the latest firmware installed. The plotter is configured with a static IP address; there is no internal firewall or traffic filtering in place.

We also own an HP DesignJet T930, configured in the same way, which has never experienced this issue.

We suspected network-related issues.

So far, we have: replaced the network cable between the plotter and the wall outlet, replaced the line from the wall outlet to the switch, replaced the cable inside the network cabinet, and moved the plotter to a different port on the switch.

None of these measures resolved the problem.

Hi  @svnklncvc

Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thanks for reaching out!

I understand how concerning it can be when your HP DesignJet T1600dr repeatedly shows as disconnected during large print batches in HP Click, especially after you have already completed extensive network troubleshooting and confirmed that the printer firmware, HP Click version, and network configuration are up to date.

As a next step, kindly perform a full power cycle of the printer to refresh the printer's network services and internal communication processes:

  1. Turn the printer off using the Power button.
  2. Wait until the printer has completely shut down.
  3. Disconnect the power cord from the rear of the printer.
  4. Wait for approximately 60 seconds.
  5. Reconnect the power cord directly to the printer.
  6. Turn the printer back on and allow it to reach the Ready state.
  7. Test printing multiple drawings again through HP Click and monitor whether the disconnect behavior reoccurs.

You can also refer to the official HP DesignJet T1600 User Guide, which includes information about turning the printer on and off : HP DesignJet T1600 Printer Series User Guide - Click here

I hope this helps.
