I wanted to ask for help with the T2300 - after replacing the printheads, I receive a message to check if the carriage cover is open. The display shows an icon of one or two printheads flashing. After removing them, the contact strips in the carriage are dirty with ink. I clean it and reinstall the printheads and they are recognized, but shortly after, the situation repeats itself with contact strip dirty again. Could a worn-out service station be responsible for this?

Hello Soop1982,

Thank you for posting your concern,

Troubleshooting Printhead Contact Strip Issues on the T2300

The issue you're experiencing with your HP T2300, where the contact strips in the carriage become dirty with ink shortly after cleaning, could potentially be related to a worn-out service station. Here are some steps and considerations to help address the problem:

  1. Clean the Electrical Contacts:

    • Continue cleaning the electrical contacts both in the carriage and on the printheads thoroughly. You can use a lint-free cloth slightly dampened with distilled water. Ensure all ink residues are removed.
  2. Inspect the Service Station:

    • The service station is responsible for capping and cleaning the printheads. If it's worn out, it might not clean the printheads properly, leading to ink buildup on the contact strips.
    • Look for signs of ink overflow or blockage in the service station area.
  3. Service Station Maintenance:

    • Consider performing maintenance on the service station. If you're able to, clean any visible ink buildup. However, this might require a service call to ensure the components are handled properly.
  4. Replace the Service Station:

    • If the service station is indeed worn out or malfunctioning, it may need to be replaced. A worn service station can fail to seal the printheads correctly, leading to ink leakage.
  5. Ensure Proper Installation:

    • Make sure that the printheads are installed properly and securely. An improper installation can also lead to contact issues.
  6. Check Firmware Updates:

    • Verify that the printer has the latest firmware updates. Firmware updates can include fixes for errors and improved handling of printhead operations.

If these steps do not resolve the issue, it might be necessary to contact HP support or an authorized service provider for further assistance. They can provide more detailed diagnostics and may suggest replacing specific components if required.
