When I print to Roll 2 (36" roll) on my DesignJet T2530 it squeals loudly every time the roll rotates and it drives us all nuts. The same thing happened with Roll 1 a couple of years ago, HP service fixed it but we no longer have a contract.

Turns out it was wheels at the FRONT of the machine. I pulled the roll again, and lubed the idlers that ride on the roll, then looked up & under and there was another set with treads, so to speak. I spun them, and they squeaked, lubed them and all is well. Everything I read on HPs site said the back idlers, you may want to note this one for the future.
Thank you again!

The two things I have run into on this design are:
1. Using too big a roll and the system cannot feed properly.
2. The idler wheels at the back of the printer need to be lubricated, I do not believe that they are lubed from factory but over time they start to make noise and some light silicone oil does wonders.
A little detective work on your part might help someone further provide guidance. Try to determine where on the machine the noise is coming from, a video would be useful as well.

I have already removed the paper roll and put light oil on the rollers on each end. I ran a plot and the noise seems to be coming from the roll itself, underneath the printer, but there are no moving parts in it. I will try your suggestion re: the idler wheels and report back. Thank you!
Edit: Please note that it's only noisy with Roll 2, the 36" roll, not Roll 1 the 24".
