DesignJet Z6200

I recently picked up a 60" DesignJet z6200 Large Format printer for some home hobby projects that I am trying to do. I bought the printer after it was stored for several years, without being turned on. It's in great shape except for bringing it back to working condition. I am in the process of cleaning it up. As soon as I turned it on I got a broken bag error 24:10 code. I probably should have changed the old ink cartridges out with new ones, before starting it up, but I have them coming via mail now. I noticed that a little bit of ink backed up in the air supply lines (see image) and the manual is asking me to clean the air tubes by installing the dummy ink cartridge from the Broken Bag Fixing Tools Kit  (part number CH955-67076). I didn't get one from the guy I bought the printer from.

Questions:

1. Is there a way I can get my hands on a Dummy Ink Cartridge?

2. Is there a way I can build one out of a spent cartridge? (with the two holes at the top: see image below)

3. that air supply line is only about 5-6 inches - can I simply take that section off and clean it and replace? (are the fittings glued are just squeezed on the fittings?

Any help you can give is appreciated. If there's a service tech out there I can talk to and get some support, please let me know.

You might have some bad seals in the ink system.  Yes, you can remove the tubing and clean it out with water.  You may need to heat up the ends to release it from the barb.

Try going into the menu and clearing the EEPROM to see if that gets rid of the broken bag error message.

BTW, how many colors does this use?  They were made with different numbers of colors used.

Do you have a service manual for the printer?  Try this link:

Hp has been cracking down on websites distributing the service manuals so it that doesn't work, just google the model number and see what comes up.

I don't work for HP....I just repair their printers.

 @D Hook Thanks for the feedback. Your solution about changing out the ink delivery tubes may fix this problem as well as the problem I talked about in my other post. That makes sense. It might be expensive but probably cheaper in the long run because I won’t have to do all the work of cleaning the tubes myself. By the way, it’s an 8 color system (8 cartridges) and I have a current service manual that matches your link. See my other post for additional comments. Thanks so much for your feedback.

@D Hook

I received the new Ink lines from LPS and installed that for about 6hours on Sunday. I put all 8 new ink cartridges in and I primed the 8 lines with the little pump they included in the shipment - that was pretty straight forward. I also cleaned up the printheads best I could although I am sure I will be replacing a few of those. So now my problem is that I can't get out of the broken bag error screen to reset the EEPROM. I tried the down arrow + cancel + power approach (and a bunch more combos24;10_BrokenBagError screen.jpg) and the machine just shuts off and then I have to restart it again and it and it lands in the same screen. Any other solution? I'm so excited about getting this far and I just want to get it running so bad. Any help is appreciated. I will also post a new post to the community.
