My plotter has started leaving a few random black ink globs (large dots) on the paper, looking like shredded debris.
It's generally on the start of the plot.
Any ideas on this?

Faulty printhead or possibly excess waste ink on the service station (far right of carriage).

During this time, I serviced contract and warranty calls within the Northern Indiana area. When I left HP, I took my HP Designjet service experience and started my own business servicing out of contract plotters. Designjetpartsfast.com was launched in 2009. Looking closely at the carriage belt, there is some minor fraying and perhaps a bit of material is shedding, so maybe it could be little pieces of rubber from the belt contaminated with ink. Odd that it's only black spots though.
Belt is original so perhaps 15 to 20 years old. New one is on order.
