HP DesignJet T520 24-in Printer
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

We have a HP DesignJet T520 24-in Printer (CQ890A) that is giving me a number of issues. I was originally getting the message: One or more cartridges appear to be damaged. Remove them and replace with new cartridges. The Black cartridge was the one that it listed as bad. That cartridge was new, but it was being seen as damaged.  After purchasing a brand new cartridge, We still have the same exact issue.

So from the Home Screen, I reset the system with a Hard Reset hoping to clear Faulty Cartridge message.  Now I get the following message:  There is a problem with the printer or ink system.  Turn printer off, then on.  I can't get past this message without powering off, taking all the cartridges out and restarting the printer.  Putting the cartridges back in one by one, the printer does NOT like the Black Cartridge which is brand new... both times.

I have cleaned the print cartridge holder, the contacts and printhead.

Anyone have suggestions?  We have only made 300 prints on this printer purchased in 2017.  So the parts are not worn out...

There is a noted issue in the service documentation on this issue caused by firmware older than 1902ER

There is a note as well that the cartridges themselves might be damaged and require replacement after updating the firmware.
