Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

I have been in and out of hospital the last 6 months and the Z5200 has been on the back burner. I unwrapped the

covers from the printer about 2 months and everything looked ok . Been feeling a lot better and my mobility

is much better now. So I went back out and checked on the printer and found this mess, ( see attached photos ).

The shop vac made quick work of the mess and no critters were found . My question is what can I use to clean the

small spots of mouse urine up without damaging printer components ? Would Isopropanol Alcohol be ok to use ?

Using cotton swabs to apply it . Or what is recommended to use ?

Thanks

You can safely use alcohol on metal components, if you clean the carriage rod that way you will need to properly lube it.  Highly diluted alcohol could be used on other components, although I am not sure how effective that might be . If cleaning the encoder strip, be very gentle to avoid damaging the grid printed on it. I have never had to clean a carriage belt, but would avoid  chemicals for this component.

Thanks for the info. How and with what would I clean the encoder strip with ?

The carriage rod has 2 small rust spots on it . I started with 1000 grit sanding film and went to

15,000 grit sanding film but the 2 spots were still there. I may wind up having to replace the carriage rod

and possibly the encoder strip. In the attached photo is the encoder strip, ( circled in green )

supposed to look like that ?

Thanks

I found how to clean the encoder strip in service manual they say to use tap water and lint free cloth.

Gonna use some distilled water and a lint free cloth that you use to clean eye glasses with.
