SMPBELOIT, yep I've got a few bucks into this. I think it's going to be one of those jobs that I loose money on. The one difference in yours and mine is I only get one beep. I've tried the memory thing like everyone suggested and everything else and always get the same results.

I may have just missed this, but you haven't tried a new hard drive yet right?

That's correct I just got it and I'll be putting it in tomorrow.

The HDD has to be from HP as it is setup as suggested earlier for specific printers and the Firmware resides on the HDD.

A store bought HDD with the same specs will not work.

that has been my experience anyway.

Good Luck,

RoyK

RoyK, that is my experience as well.  The guys at LPS Computer https://www.lpscomputer.com said this:

"Yes, it does include the firmware. It's nearly plug-and-play. You have to install the HDD, power on, the machine reconfigures the OS to its liking, then you usually receive a 79:04 error, then you power the machine down, restart. Now it will boot normally, giving two beeps."

Which worries me a little because the 2 beeps is what I"m getting now....

I'm excpecting the drive in the next 2 days.  I'll keep you all posted.

I'm so HAPPY to say that my problem is solved and my printer is back up and running.  It was the hard drive.  And yes, you need one with the firmware on it.  I ordered mine from LPS Computers and it was super fast shipping and they were very helpful.  Thanks all for your help!

Happy you are now up and running. If you look at my post from 4/1 I told you to hold off with the main pca since you posted the hard disk was just a plain hard disk and not from HP.

I very much appreciate it, thank you!
